We talked about it in a previous blog, but now we have footage of James Harden pulling off his One-Legged Step Back on an actual NBA floor.
He missed. He missed this one but look at how much room he can create, thats scary because I am assuming he has created a way to counter out of this. Look at this defender creep up into him, thats going to be good for a few fouls. He missed this one but oh my god Rest In Peace to the rest of the NBA. He is going to pull that move off again and again this season and he is going to make it and he is going to get fouled again and again.
We saw him in the summer working on this move. I know the pick up games in high school gyms are fun to watch in July and August but you can never buy into anything you might see in one of those videos whether it is Ben Simmons doing anything more than 5 feet away from the rim or Carmelo Anthony shooting fade away mid range jumpers you cant look too much into that. However I did believe that when I saw James Harden pull off that move in the Lifetime Fitness, he would be will be incorporating that move into his already unstoppable repertoire.
Yes, this might be a preseason game against the Shanghai Sharks, (A respectable franchise by the way led by Star guard Jimmer Fredette) but it is still on the Rockets home floor. Harden is figuring out the angles in an actual arena. He missed this one time and he will miss lots. He will also make a lot because he’s going to shoot this shot A LOT.
Good luck, NBA.
P.S. Russ looked happy and excited for the shot because he saw the work that was put in.
I wonder what number shot on the season it will be when he decides he no longer likes the shot.
