Highly anticipated might be an overstatement after last weeks performance from both teams. But the schedule makers thought that before this season started this would be a perfect Week 2 matchup. They were wrong.
Now let’s set the record straight, no one has ever looked at this matchup on the schedule and thought “Hell yeah! Prime time football between the Browns and Jets. This is gonna be a good one” No, never. Maybe in the 60’s when helmets were made from the same material that pilots wore when they attempted a cross-Atlantic excursion.

But here we are. Browns vs. Jets- Lets get into it.
Sam Darnold is out because he has Mono, from sharing drinks I would presume, so Trevor Siemian will play (GO CATS)
LeVeon Bell is in.
Baker Mayfield is playing.
Odell Beckham is playing.
Gregg Williams is coaching
The story around this game is much more than just an underwhelming Monday Night game. There are so many mini narratives for this game alone that if it almost deserving of the primetime, even if the product on the field will be subpar.
Here are the facts:
1. The game is in New York
This is technically Odell’s homecoming even though he’s playing the Jets he’s still returning to New York City.
2. Gregg Williams used to coach for the Browns.
He was the defensive coordinator for 2 years before taking over as Interim Head Coach for the last guy they had there.
Those are the things we know for sure.
Some things that we can speculate:
1. Browns players hate Williams.
If you ever watched an interview or caught a glimpse of Gregg Williams on TV this would make sense. I mean his name is Gregg and he spells it with 2 Gs? Total try hard move. When you try to take a boring name like Greg and just add a G to make it ‘unique’ you end up looking like an asshole…. like Gregg.
2. Gregg Williams tried to hurt Odell Beckham JR in a preseason game.
Odell came into the news and said that Williams told his players to intentionally injure Beckham during a preseason game a few years back. This could also be put in the facts portion of this blog because I completely believe he tried this. This seems pretty on brand for a guy that was suspended for an entire season because he had a whole bounty system in place when he was with the Saints.
Say what you want about the game itself but when you have all these other factors in place it’s going to make for a fun matchup. Maybe Baker will do something wild like go stand by the Jets sideline after connecting on a bomb to Odell for a touchdown.
I really hope there are some big plays from both sides because I want to be entertained and I don’t see myself changing the channel despite how bad the game actually is.
Some things that we can actually take from tonight is that this is a big game for us to see if Baker and Odell the duo can actually be elite. Because the Jets do have a good defense even if they are ran by a psychopath.
Look out for a big LeVeon direct snap game because they won’t have many other options.
Lastly, whoever can get their other guys going earlier on is going to win this game. Juice Landry or Robby Anderson are the keys to success.
The pieces are there but there is also a really good chance that this game ends in final score of 13-7 because it’s the Jets and Browns and they aren’t supposed to be any good.
Prediction
24-14 Browns
